Canine... Cogs?
The 'Cogs' in the name stands for both cognition, the mental processes of gaining knowledge, and the mechanical process by which cogs affect each other. As one cog is turned, everything connected to it is also moved. Every part of our lives and learning experiences affect one another. As we learn, we make changes to create the ideal situations for ourselves. When the situation isn't ideal, we seek to learn about what could make the situation better.

Mission
Founded in 2021, Canine Cogs is dog training that focuses of positive reinforcement, building a positive relationship between owners and their dogs, and personalizing the learning experience so that both can benefit most from it. I want to give owners the tools they need to not only train their dogs, but also understand the 'what', 'why', and 'how' behind the training. The language of dogs is no longer a mythical language. We have many tools at our disposal now to understand what is happening, and more research is constantly underway. Using positive reinforcement techniques, my goal is to get clients to the point that they can solve minor problems without the help of a trainer, but to offer access when people hit a 'training wall'.

Path To Training Success
The goal with Canine Cogs is to give every dog the best chance at success. When training, there are 3 factors that we can control to affect the difficulty of the exercise: Distance, Duration, and Distraction. By starting in a less distracting environment (your home), we can build the foundation of skills needed to thrive in society. The programs offered are stepping stones to success. During the program, you will be encouraged to practice first at home, and then slowly increase the distraction level of the environment to your backyard, then front yard, then quiet park, and so on.

What's Next?
It is still highly recommended to still participate in group lessons after you finish The Foundation Program. This will allow you to understand exactly what is expected from you, allow your dog to generalize the exercises, and for both of you to then perfect the training in a more exciting environment. You can also continue training with Canine Cogs as a weekly or monthly personal trainer session to fine tune exercises, get help with arising issues, or to just find new ways to have fun with your dog. Once you have completed a training program with Canine Cogs, you are always welcome to book a training session at the discounted continuing education rate.
